Why do you need a UPS (Uninterruptible
power supplies) ?
A
UPS carries out two important tasks. Firstly, it takes
a power supply, and cleans it of spikes and brown outs.
Secondly, it provides a back up power source in the event
of a power outage. These functions protect electrical
equipment such as servers, router and other critical applications
from damage and data loss.
How it works?
The main power supply contains sags and surges that could
be damaging to sensitive equipment. The UPS cleans the
incoming signal, removing any sags, or surges in the power,
and sends it out.
In the event of a power cut, the UPS seamlessly kicks
in and starts providing high quality power to the load.
The UPS will supply the load with power for a set amount
of time. During the certain down time, it is required
for the critical equipment such as file server to shutdown
property to avoid the data loss, hardware failure and
system crash. |
